FOAK first opened its doors in October 2021. 

Owner, Katie, wanted a space of her own where like minded and passionate people could also thrive and create their own successes. 

Katie started hairdressing in 2015 within a local salon and attended South Devon College where she completed her NVQ level 2. It was there that she met friend/colleague Jordan Tucker, who was training in Hair & Media makeup. Katie and Jordan worked together at many 'Pop Up' events throughout the years including "Glastonbury Festival" and more locally "Tribal Cash". Katie was fortunate to experience high levels of training during her time within the salon as well as out on location.

Katie has a passion for bridal hair and updos, thus qualifying for a Bridal Specialist Award. She has been lucky enough to work with a variety of Photographers on photoshoots and have her work featured online and in magazines - such as Bride and Wed mag. 

After 5 years of employment Katie decided to go self - employed and rent a chair at another local salon where she stayed for 2 years and met friend/colleague Donna. 

However, there was still something missing and Katie strived for more. This is where dreams became a reality and FOAK was born. A place for Hair & Beauty addicts to take control of their dreams. A place to thrive. 

The word "FOAK" means "First of a Kind".  It is used in engineering economics. An acronym to illustrate the development or attainment of uniqueness.
